Program Development Assistance

Our team helps in training and building Outreach services for the community. Outreach means building community connections and relationships to strengthen trust between service provider and community members. This includes, providing education on naloxone, first aid, harm reduction, conducting wellness checks, building support groups and more. Providing this education and support to communities increases the overall knowledge and confidence when dealing with things such as Naloxone administration and First Aid training which will help the community gain the confidence and knowledge to assist others on an individual level and build a sense of unity within the community. Our team will help the community establish their own team for Peer Support and Outreach through job creation, volunteer positions and more. 

Our team will help build capacity within the community entity working with the Mental Health Team to be able to provide in-depth and meaningful Counselling services to the community members. Our staff are equipped for Adult and Youth Counselling services and can provide training to staff to ensure that community staff can provide optimal delivery of this service.

Wiidookaage Waabandan will work with departments to conduct research and gather a comprehensive list of services in the surrounding area. This will help begin building connections with organizations and help develop a network of services and programs that members can access. This is included but not limited to treatment options, withdrawal management, legal support services, outpatient mental health services, and youth programming. Mapping out available services in the area will allow for and easier time developing these networks and building the connections to provide a comprehensive circle of care.

Systems Navigation is the process of building connections and service networks with other organizations in the area to develop an encompassing system of services and organizations that can provide specific assistances; thus, this can assist in bridging possible gaps in the access of these services. Systems Navigation bridges the gap between service provider and client. Our team ensures that we provide education to clients on how to access services found in their areas and what is needed for the procurement of these services. Our team will build capacity within the community organization to continue the provision of System Navigation services to their respective community through training and development.

Our team is equipped to assess and address community emergencies and provide assistance to communities that are dealing with emergency situations. Our team will also work with communities to develop response plans and build capacity within communities to ensure that the communities know how to adequately respond to these possible emergencies.

Our Child and Youth Team will engage with the youth in the community by hosting activities, creating a safe designated space and providing outreach to youth at risk. Our team will then work to get the youth involved with service development and delivery and encourage them to participate in this process with our team and then allow for programming to continue in the hands of the Program Leads and Youth.

Along with developing the capacity for these programs, our team will  ensure that capacity is available for these teams, provide in-depth training to ensure the teams are prepared to continue with the programs and will help get the building blocks for these teams a programs to run successfully. This can include: the creation of jobs and job descriptions, assistance with funding applications to ensure the continuance and compensation of the programs and hiring and training staff to run the programs. This will provide community members with more meaningful employment opportunities through the development of these funded programs.
