Wiidookaage Waabandan Inc.

Our Story

Wiidookaage Waabandan, was born from a team of people working toward combatting the opioid crisis in a First Nation community on Manitoulin Island. In 3 years, our team worked to develop an approach that saved over 36 lives and eliminated opioid overdose fatalities in the community. Newly incorporated, our goal is to share our approach with communities across Ontario by providing services aimed at building community capacity through empowerment.

At Wiidookaage Waabandan, we are committed to meaningful work with tangible outputs. Our organization seeks to work with communities to enhance mental health and addictions services through instilling a mindset shift to community based services that is person-centered and community driven. Our goal is to build and enhance services within each community to allow for greater self-determination and community empowerment.
